I was working on Olivia's 70 maverick and wondering on patch pieces. I found on both cowl ends rot. I tried to think how to repair.... Weld in.. cover with bondo... steel filler... well I chose to replace.
There is no substitute for new metal but you have to make sure you have the bad stuff cut back to where there is good steel to weld to
Nice job on the patch piece! I don't think I have ever seen the spring cover rusted like that before, at least that piece is a bolt on!
