Im swapping into my '70 mav a '73 comet five bolt rear end. my question is, is the sheet metal seal/spacer that is between the bearing retainer plate and bearing necessary ? Im having a hard time finding them. Im on summit now looking, no luck.

my question got me a diagram. diagram got me a part #. I did a search which led me to a Torino web site. the info there led me to search for a fel-pro part # 55035. Summit carries this part. As does autozone etc.. Now if only I could find replacements for D3OZ 1180 or 1177. THANK YOU Tody!

1180 is part of the wheel bearing - they always come with the bearing and a retainer which needs to be pressed on.
1177 is the axle seal - inside the axle tube.

take a look at rockauto.com, they should carry what you need.
