Pulled out my fuel level sender, it was annihilated. The float was non-existant, like not even in there. Need a new one, found the part number as d1dz-9275a, but $100 seems steep. Saw some guys used mustang sending units out of a 71-73. Is the ohm range the same? Thanks in advance.

I used one, but forgot I put in the bigger tank, so mine reads low. But it does work.

The 'ohm range' is the same across all Ford senders, right up into the 80's. 73-10 ohms IIRC. It's the physical length, angle and shape of the arm on the sender that changes for the physical differences between tanks.

The one I used is for a 71-73 Mustang.

I used the same one...adjusted the float to read empty with 2 gals. in the tank, that's all I needed to know, got about 150 miles before it came off full...:thumbs2:

I ordered a mustang fuel level sender. I can manage fabricating it to fit.

So a little update. I order a spectre premium sender (fg87a iirc), bad reviews, but it was cheap and not much else was available from summit. The Dorman unit wasn't available or something. The neck coming out of the tank was pointing the wrong way, so I cut it and welded it back the correct way. Otherwise the fuel level sender looked almost identical. Cleaned my tank and POR15ed the outside followed up by a coat of rustoleum truck bed liner - looks awesome.
