I bought some roller tips on ebay with the following add. When I recieved them several of the roller tips were frozen. Would the following add be considered an honest representation of these rockers. I coundn't post the pics but they weren't all that helpful. The tips that were rusty were very pitted as well. What do you think honest or not so honest? I offered to pay return shipping and the cost of listing the item but no go! If this is the wrong forum sorry, wasn't sure where to post it! You are bidding on a set (16) of ERSON 1.73 roller rockers for the adjustable valvetrain 351 Cleveland. They have never been used. They were on a newly rebuilt engine. The owner died, and the owners father put the engine outside!!!!! Because of this, there is minor rust on the roller tip on about half of these. I was going to have the tips polished, or replaced if needed for my engine rebuild, but I sold my car, and no longer need these parts. I will post pics very soon. The rest of the rollers are in GREAT shape...no rust anywhere else EXCEPT the tips on about half of them. I will accept money orders, checks, wire transfers, personal checks. All must clear BERFORE I ship these out.
Sounds dishonest to me. The guy probably bought them, decided they were too bad a shape for his taste, so unloaded them.
eBay Item I think the seller was pretty accurate on the description of the item. If the price was reasonable there is probably no real deseption. There are a couple of sayings that would apply, you get what you pay for and let the buyer beware. Have been burned on a Holley carb off eBay, paid 40.00 and the thing was out and out falsely advertised as coming off a running mustang. When I got it it was a combination of pieces and parts of several models of Holley's, could never had been run as is. Wrong gaskets and missing parts etc. should have realized that 40.00 was to cheap even for a used 600 Holley. New Mexico attorney general and eBay both put this guy out to pasture, I was still out the money but wrote it off as a lesson in life. It PYO but nothing in this world is guaranteed except death and taxes. Maybe give the seller a neutral feedback and hope the things can be repaired reasonable. Just my .02 worth.
he could have said that they were frozen, but it wasn't written up like someone trying to deceive, IMO. I think he should have elabrated further. If they indeed can be polished up to be fixed, then I would let it pass, if not, I would talk to the guy at least.
Do they look like they have never been run as stated? Can the rust be polished out as he stated? I would never consider buying rust exposed roller rockers at any price. The guy did state that they had been exposed to rust. The difference is he thinks that they are useable & you don't. Lesson learned.
If their frozen, I think thats a little more than minor rust. Thats like calling a seized crank, "minor cranking problem" OK, maby thats a little extreme, but its still deceptive to me.
opinions differ from person to person. i won't say i'll never buy a valve train part off of ebay but getting new running gear parts sure can save a lot of hassle in the long run.
Just out of curiosity.......how much did you pay for them on ebay....and how much would a new set be?
