Could someone point a link to related posts on options for converting my 1974 Maverick drum brakes to disc (front). Will spindles work for discs on '74's or still need different disc-specific spindles?. thanks
Use the "Search" button on the upper right of this.....should get plenty of results as it is a popular topic.
Drum to Disc' is such a popular topic and the forum seems quite popular there are mounds of posts when search is used. After a long time trying to pick through the posts of all the options for for different years, types and ideas, I'm seeking 1974 Drum to Disc specific info. Anyone knows specific posts related I'd appreciate a link.... .. still wondering about the '74 spindles, I thought the intro of the MII also meant universal (Disc or Drum) spindles @ 1974... ? have fun
Real simple: 1. Use the link I suggested for ALL NEW parts. 2. Get a set of disc brakes off of ANY 1976-1977 Ford Maverick/Mercury Comet. 100% straight bolt on except one will need to change the outer tie rods (tell the parts store you have a 1976 Ford Maverick for all the parts). Granadas/Monarchs (not the Fox Body ones) have the exact same parts.
Any year Maverick/Comet will swap... Nope no such thing as universal spindle from Mustang II, as mentioned the Granada(1975-1980) used same spindles as Maverick... The earlier Torino/Fairlane/Cyclone('68-'71)& Mustang('68-'73) parts fit, but those brakes aren't like the later parts...
