What's different??? From what I can see the S149P is physically same as switch in my Comet... BTW original Ford number on my switch is D2AB-11654-A1A...
Ford Parts Manual lists: 70-72 (Before 1/3/72) Part # C5DZ-11654-A, Later was replaced by D3ZZ-11654-A 72 (made after 1/3/72) as Part # C5AZ-11654-A. 73-77 Part # D3AZ-11654-A For the C5AZ, You can purchase a reproduction here: http://www.dearbornclassics.com/68-72-ranchero-torino-headlamp-switch.html
The switch at Dearborn Classic is same as one I have from a '69 Torino and has the D3 number(so it's a replacement)... That switch is also exactly like the orig from my Comet(both of those are defective)... What I have in the Comet now is a C5 number(1965 origin, prob orig from a Torino) that also was same physically, works & fit perfectly... There is a bracket inside the dash that keeps the switch spaced back, so the shaft doesn't extend to far outward... Sooo if that's in place, the lock pin on back side is in same position & switch spacing for the dimmer section is same, only thing I could see wrong would be length of shaft...
i had the original one out before when i first bought the replacement one and installed it and noticed the rod stuck out to far so i put the old one back in and left it alone since it semi worked,
now that i have the dash apart again i would like to replace the light switch since the illumination lights dont work anymore
