I have a '71 Mav, 200 engine. The gas needle doesn't always show the truth. Any suggestions on where I can get a replacement tank unit, hopefully American made? Also, where can I get a lockring tool? Thanks much!

Preferably a brass drift so you don't make sparks.

Hello, fellow car owners! Thank you for the tip on using a hammer and brass bit to loosen the lockring. Any thoughts on where I can get a quality tank sensor? I saw a new stainless steel one on Ebay for $99, but I couldn't find who makes it.

I believe all the repops for a Maverick are made here in the USA.

Hi Craig, I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with what "repops" is.

Make sure it's not just a grounding problem. My gauge acted flaky so I added a ground wire from the chassis to the sending unit, problem solved.

I have had the units rebuilt -- I have never found and American made reproduction and have had really bad luck with them. Then along came tristar radiator. This guy sends your unit back PERFECT -- painted cleaned looks like brand new. Set it next to a repro and WOW what a diff. Price ranges from 75- 150 is depending on the condition of your unit. They are tested 6-75 ohms and calibrated. BEST way to get your sending unit replaced (reconditioned).
