I'd rather have that 2-piece kit as opposed to the one piece I tried to install in my 70, would be much easier to work with having seperate halves.
I'm getting ready to pull mine for a mod so that would be a good time for me to put in a new 2 piece...
......I must be different. I installed a "one-piece", and it went in fine, in my 1970. I removed all the seats, door sills, and plastic kick boards, and rear side pieces. I let the carpet "relax" a couple of days in the "pan" (on hot days), and then formed & trimmed. I used an old tip in my soldering iron, to make holes for dimmer switch, and seat-belt bolts. The melting process ensures that the tread/weave won't unravel. After laying in the carpet, you can guide the soldering iron tip from the underside of the car, through the seat-belt bolt holes, and make very clean openings.
I wish I had know this trick when I did my carpet "1 piece". I never thought abt using a soldering iron to make the openings. So far, I don't seem to have an raveling. If I do it again - I will use the iron. Thanks for sharing...
I've installed two 1-piece ACC carpets in my Maverick. The first one didn't fit great, and had the thick jute backing on the driveline tunnel part which made installation of the seats a real pain. The second one which is in there now doesn't have the jute in that area, and fits much better. The biggest fitment problem with the first one was the width was off a little bit and did not properly tuck under the sill plates. Knowing what I know now, I would also prefer the 2-piece, but did not see an option for that when I ordered.
