I apologize for not using my old thread.. but im on my phone and I find it difficult to search... I am converting a 76 to manual brakes and as some may know the hole the master comes thru the firewall is different.. Do you guys cut that thin tin thats there to allow the manual master to pop thru or change out the tin???
I would change out the tin/spacer, as the one you have is needed for power brakes. Are you going to be selling the power brake setup?
I would sell the power brake setup.. but the booster and master are in poor shape.. the master is leaking at the bore
All of that is still sellable.....but you have to have all the pieces. The master cylinder and the booster can be rebuilt.
Alright Fellas, hit another wall today.. it must be a year thing or something.. the tin I got for the manual master has a slightly different bolt pattern than the firewall and the two steering column supports... the manual and power supports... Does anyone know if its a year thing that the pattern is just so slightly wider in the 76 ish cars?
You cant enlarge the hole without weakening the spacers that tack welded to the plate.. what I did end up doing was cut the plate in half and installed it in two pieces..
Hey fellas, if its not one thing its another... the newest issue is trying to get the brake system bleed.. which isn't working too good.. one issue is this thing that i have never seen before were the secondary res shoots fluid up into the air when you just start pressing the brake pedal... I didn't bench bleed the new master, as i figured i can bleed it on the car.. I bought the plastic fittings and hose that run the fluid back up into the res... I pumped it slowly until no bubbles came out.. i then installed the hard lines to the prop valve and have tried vacuum bleeding and manual bleeding at the wheels to no avail.. the peddle is soft and soggy... basically I am trying to see if there is a issue with this master or it still needs to be bled? what ya guys think?
