Building a 331 for our Maverick build. Using a 94 5.0 roller block with AFR 185's and SCAT forged rotating assembly etc.... Anyone with experience with Maverick engine builds I am looking for advice on a front sump oil pan and windage tray. The Canton states that it will not fit a Maverick so I was looking at Mildon 30925. Any suggestions or experience with after market high capacity oil pans is appreciated.
I can't comment on the pan, but I am using a Canton windage tray in a stock pan. Mounts to my ARP main studs. Cosmetic quality was good, but I had to enlarge the mounting holes due to the holes being slightly out of position.
I take it that it didn't interfere with the longer stroke? Did you stick with a standard volume oil pump?
My engine is stock stroke with a cast steel Eagle crank that has larger counterweights than a stock crank (surprise!). As a matter of fact, the piston skirts had to be machined slightly to clear them. I used main studs that are longer to accommodate a windage tray. It looked as if there are enough threads on the studs for some adjustment. I use a standard volume Ford Racing aluminum pump with an ARP drive shaft. That is a sweet combo you are building.
