So, I'm sure plenty of you old dogs have gone to bucket seats over the years.
What's the best route for doing this?
Which seats fit best? I'm looking for period-styled high backs and maybe even harnesses
    Any advice appreciated

It would probably be easiest to take some newer seats (easy to find) and make them look "period".

IF you have the correct tracks and seats that came in one of our cars its easy stick the seats in the left hole/s make sure its straight them mark your holes for the other side then drill new holes add some new bolts and nuts with washers and wallah youve got bucket seats in your car
the original bucket seat cars came with an extra piece of metal strap under the seat to brace the seat bolts so they werent just sticking through a thin piece of sheet metal.
that way if you got in a wreck your seat wouldnt just rip out of the floor sending you into a windshield face plant .

I have a bench right now so I was looking to convert, which is why I was looking around. What's your personal favorite seat-wise?

My 74 was marked from the factory with a dimple on the floor pan where to drill the inside track holes

Do I need to find an inside track or will that bolt setup work?

Use tracks! The best thing for you to do since you already have bench tracks, is find another set of them and make your own tracks and it'll be cheaper than trying to find LDO tracks. With the right tracks you can basically use any seat you want(as long as they fit). Here is a thread on what seats others are using. I personally have buckets from a '97 Mustang. http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/lets-see-your-seats.102215/

I like the ldo bucket seats myself I dont see the hype of the high back buckets

racing seats from summit are a cheap option. theyre already upholstered in a variety of colors and theyre only like $100 each if I remember right they look cool but as far as comfort goes theyre not so great.

I kinda like the way those tiburon seats look. I'd get 'em redone when the interior gets treated and probably move my bench headrests to the rear to equal it out and avoid whiplash for the backseat riders.
