A 6 cylinder with a glass pack sounds like a 6 cylinder with a glass pack - I would go with a good header and a high flow performance muffler or a 2 into 1 set up
Once again I share... I have had a 4 cyl chevy luv truck, a 4 cyl suzuki samurai, a i6 280 zx, a dodge van with 440ci, and I used glass packs on all of them, and they all sounded good. Only the van was loud, the rest just had a mildly aggressive tone. I had sidepipes on the 302 maverick and they sounded really aggressive, without being loud, but those were LONG glasspacks. The good thing about putting on a glasspack is they are $15-20 each, so if you don't like it after you try it, you aren't out a lot of cash. I always replaced my worn out mufflers with glasspacks just because they were cheap, and I always liked the sound of them.
Yes, Frank .... I was too. I know he has a 6 and mentioned it is a challenge to make them sound good in my first reply. I'm not as confused as you think I am .... lol.
I have a 77 with the 250 and a Thrush cherry bomb (Dynomax 24201) glass pack. The car has a good low rumble at idle and on the highway, sounds like a muscle car, but it is a little loud on the freeway at about 65. It does not interfere too much with conversation or listening the radio while you're on the freeway, if the windows are closed. In all I like it, of course it is a mater of taste, and I've never heard the car with an ordinary exhaust system. When I got the car it had no exhaust system beyond the firewall so I had to pice together my own.
on the falcon 200 we ran glasspacks, magnaflows, flowmasters and thrush turbo. The turbo sounded best of all. (also tried a cutout, it sounded horrible) A mild cam will make it sound better as well, the stock cams kinda sound like tractors.
I had a glasspak on just in place of the stock muffler (250), it sounded alittle deeper, but in my opinion it didn't make much of a difference beyond volume.
