So lately i have been wanting to spend my garage time on the comet but i need to finish most of my falcon build before i can have the room to do a tear down on the comet. I'm hoping by spring to have the falcon in my driveway and my comet up on stands. but just a couple of days ago a buddy of mine calls me up to tell me he is moving to Louisiana and that if he can not figure out a way to get his truck down there that he is going to give it to me. it's a 1969 3/4 ton chevy with a 396. he already bought a rust free cab for it and it just needs to be put on. i swear things just keep getting in the way of my comet. so hopefully by spring i will be working on the car.

What's the problem? Sell the truck and parts. Spend the money on the Comet.

yeah that would make the most sense but he is a really good friend and he wants the truck taken care of. maybe I'll just have to say no to the truck. but i don't know if i can. i've done most of the work on it so i know what shape it is in. i have a disease, my wife calls me a car hoarder and i only have 3 non running cars as of this moment.

help him find it a good home...
if you have two now that you can't find time to finish, when will you have time to finish the truck.
me thinks it needs more than a..."rust free cab"...:yup:

yeah i decided to not get the truck i really don't need another project right now. i figured i would help him find a good home for it. i think i might sell my falcon because i have a chance to get a 1956 oldsmobile.

yeah i know it is just one of those things. i haven't seen the oldsmobile yet but from what the guy who has it was saying it is a lot better shape than my falcon and will not take as much work to get it on the road. i really want an older car to use as my daily driver and i think that the olds might be the one for me. we will find out soon i hope. the guy who's car it is was out of town for thanksgiving weekend. i look at it this way if the olds is in as good of shape as it sounds like it is, it will help me get started on the comet. the car wont have to take a spot up in the garage.

take the truck get the olds and sell the olds (its going to be a tank compared to the falcon) sell the truck to someone who "will fix it up" then sell the olds for as big a profit as you can then take all of that money throw a good chunk of it at the falcon if thats what it needs then get it out and start on the comet

if you keep the olds youll be spending way more $ on gas and gas = money = less money for the comet build
the truck with the spare cab around here with the 396 if its running can fetch some good money

then if the truck is a short bed youre in the $5k-$10k range or more depending on how good it looks and runs (a guy I know paid $12k for a stock 75 short bed step side that only had a little 350)the olds should bring 2-5 grand if its in nice shape so you could be WAY ahead in the finance dept on those two vehicles

oh yes sentimental cars are some of the worst ones to have. you ended up putting way more money than the car will be ever worth into it. well my buddy found someone to buy the truck so i don't have to worry about that one anymore. the thing with gas is i already drive a 3/4 ton suburban as my daily and it gets between 9-10 mpg. i really don't care too much about gas i only live 4 miles from work and when we need to go anywhere we take my wife's car. i do think that i will sell the falcon and get the olds, at least if it's in good shape, then i am going to send the olds down the road and make some money to throw at the comet. but we will see how this all plays out. the olds might be too far gone to do anything with. my ultimate goal is to be working on the comet by late winter early spring.

well i wouldn't be just getting the olds to flip. i really want to drive it around for a while. the main reason i'm even thinking about buying the olds is that the guy only wants $1000 for it. he just wants it gone. my buddy know him from church and he said he was done messing with old cars. i don't know how the car looks or what condition it is in so depending on condition of the car i could turn around and make a few thousand off of it right off the bat. but i kinda want something that i can get on the road fairly quickly and cruise around this next year. so if it needs major work the car will not be coming home with me and i'll just finish my falcon. oh and this is my 700th post. only took a little over 12 years.

so the guy with the olds really doesn't want to sell it. he only says that when his wife is around to keep her happy. so it looks like i'll stay with my plan i started with. get the falcon out of the garage to give me space to work on the comet. i should start work on it pretty soon.
