Do I have to use the throttle cable adjuster nuts that come with it? I have the factory metal sleeve that's already wedged in the throttle bracket so I was planning on using that.
The other thing is the directions say to measure the distance between the nut and the firewall nut, and add 2 inches. That makes 9 inches total, but when I propped this up, the cable has a biiig curve in it and just doesn't look right.
    Any advice?

I used the adjuster nuts and followed their directions for cut length. Later when I tried different carbs I was glad for the extra length. But then I made my own bracket anyway since '70's didn't come with a V8.

Ok I finished this up last night. I used the nuts like you guys said. It seems to operate smoothly and I will get it 100% later. The only problem I had so far this this was that I had to grind the HELL out of the pedal itself and the pedal piece of the cable. The piece was way too wide for the pedal, not allowing the holes to line up. Not only that, but the clevis pin was too short so I used a roll pin.
