Headlights just quit working . Had not had a chance to check it out yet.i have a guess it mite be the headlight switch. Tryed the dimmer switch no high beams. What should I check first.

most likely the head light switch.
check the fuses first. use a test light to see where the power stops. if your fuses are good, check for power at the brights switch. if not power is there then its good odds that its the switch.

Before going to all the trouble to try another headlight switch, would be a whole lot easier to see if there is power on the red/yellow wire that connects to dimmer switch(lights on)... If no power, then headlight switch is probably defective, if it has power you have other problems...

I found a few weeks back that i had no headlights, so i swapped out all the old fuses as they were a bit rusty, still no lights so i started checking the wires working back from the headlights and found this fuse had blown

    "no high beams"
if you have low beams it sounds to me like the dimmer switch. I had one once that would stick between high/low and I would have no lights.

That is not part of the factory wiring harness.

Someone has added that fuse rather than replace it with a fuse wire as orig, none of the fuses in the fuse panel are in the headlight circuit...

Could be the dimmer as mentioned, but if either Hi or Lo is operating or only the Hi beam indicator is operating, problem isn't headlight sw...

Sounds like burned out headlights. Have you tried new headlight bulbs
