I'm not badmouthing Champion radiators. Just saying that for a direct bolt-in with no mods, that's not it.
Wow. what a great discussion. I am also about ready to order one. It looks like it will be ECP for me.
I'm going to need one next year, but first, I have to get the motor back in and stack up the total depth of the rad and the fan to ensure it clears my March serpentine pulleys. Lots of choices out there, but would strongly prefer one manufactured in the USA.
Champion builds custom Rads. I called Sid and he made one that was bolt in for my LS swap...fan shroud and fan came with it...
i too got one off ebay and it fit and works phenomenally. one thing id suggest is if you got this radiator is a new cap... http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-ROW-ALUMI...77-MAVERICK-4-1L-5-0L-l6-V8-fan-/261354139245 this one comes with a fan.... mine diddnt for about the same price lol
Was over at Summit Racing performing my weekly closeout rack dive. I took the opportunity to check out all of the aftermarket radiators they sell. The Summit universal radiator looks like a good deal at $159, is made in the USA and looks like it would fit a Maverick. I think someone on the forum bought one recently.
I think it was a 2 row. Was 2.25" thick, so that seems about right. Claims on the display was that it cools as well as some 4 rows. It did have the manufacturer on the side of the radiator. I'll have to record it next trip. Looked like a good value for the $$$. That is why I enjoy living relatively close to Summit. I can actually look at a lot of this stuff before buying.
If it was made by Engineered Cooling Products then I would get one because that would be better than a 3 row. I won't risk a normal 2 row for the cost of my engine.
