hi, I installed a 5.0 into my comet. it has an onboard solenoid on the starter. my red/green wire (solenoid exciter wire) seems not to have enough voltage to start the car. I tried to wire in a relay to use bat power to run the starter solenoid. when I put a relay inline it won't disengage when you start the car. it seems to stay latched. how can I fix this? do I have a bad starter solenoid? its brand new along with the starter. new battery. I could bump the starter just fine from a 12v batt line. do I need to use an old style solenoid like on the firewall to supply power to the starter? thanks
well, picked up another starter solenoid from autozone, going to install it tomorrow, will post results. thanks
do you have it wires up like the second diagram above? what relay did you use? did you measure the voltage at the solenoid exciter wire or just describing that it seems like it?
got my battery back from battery's plus yesterday... they finally warrantied the battery out. after 3 times getting it tested. now I have a spare battery.
works like a charm now just have to fix slow battery drain... damn trans controller, going to run it on a relay, that should fix that puppy.
