There is a threaded whole on top of the block, on the passenger side rear. What is it there for? What thread size? Do I need to plug it? I been having a strange oil leak, could this be where it's coming from? Thanks, Terrence
I'm not that familiar with a Windsor but is that where the oil pressure sending unit goes? If so you would have one hellacious leak
The oil pressure unit is in between the oil filter and fuel pump. It's on the lower part of the block on the driver's side. Unless it has two places.
Is this a later model block? It may be for a knock sensor. As for the oil leak are you using intake gaskets or just rtv? I had an oil leak at the back of my manifold and after resealing many times with rtv (like my boss the "expert" said to do) I put a gasket in haven't had a problem since.
Yes, the block is from a 92 Mustang. I used a gasket. There is no leaking between the block and intake.
Don't think that hole is a problem, looks to be a dead end, BUT I do see you have a bell housing bolt that looks like it needs tightening up
If you're going to use just RTV, surfaces must be squeaky clean, any trace of oil and it'll likely leak... Been tossin' them for close to 40 years, no problems yet... I started using RTV on FEs, end pieces always leaked on those... Yes that hole is for knock sensor, one in my '91 5.0...
X 2 that's for a knock sensor. I screwed an eye bolt into one on a block and used it to lift the block.
