Good day to all. Hello from Miami beach. I want to change the Front Drum brakes on my 1975 Base model Maverick but can't seem to find them in stock anywhere. A rep from Summit told me to check on the RAYBESTOS1660R but these are for the rear. are these compatible? The bendix PDR0308 or Centric 122.61015 are nowhere in stock. Any help will be greatly appreciated. (this is my first post)
I have also found that the drums are impossible to find. They only thing I can suggest is to switch to disc brakes.
thank you for the quick replies. i've read the articles about the drum to disc swap. Unfortunately i'm not quite experienced, and the swap sounds like i need a pro to help me out. I wonder if my local brake shop could do this custom swap. i'm stumped.
Melvin's Classic Ford Parts in Conyers Ga sells them. Check them out at: www.melvinsclassicfordparts.com
No luck today. I've called www.melvinsclassicfordparts.com and they told me 2 weeks or more wait time for special order. I've changed the master cylinder recently but i don't feel that confident riding at highway speeds with these old drums. I will continue the search monday. I'm going to spend some time reading up about the drum to disc swap til then.
I ran '72 Mustang drums on the front of my '74 Maverick Grabber years ago. There were minor differences, but they bolted right on and worked fine. I just checked and my local auto parts stores show they can still order them. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/pa.../_/N-ipo31Z8knr7?itemIdentifier=21741_0_9412_ I would definitely agree with everyone else though, discs are far superior and definitely a worth while upgrade.
