Okay first my set up.... 4 speed top loader, SFI t-5 type bell with cable clutch set up, cable has heat shielding where it runs close to header, now the problem, if I drive around town, normal traffic everything is fine, no problems at all, if I am in heavy traffic like at the beach, sitting for a while at the time, my clutch starts to feel funny and I can feel it engaging just a tiny bit even though I have the pedal depressed all the way to the floor, it ONLY happens when I am in heavy traffic, it starts to get difficult to even change gears, if I put it in neutral while it's doing this, I almost can't get it to go into gear, once I get back to the normal driving pattern (driving and moving faster) it returns to the proper operation and feel, and gets back to operating fine again, seems to me it has to be heat related but what part is it? what is heating up and causing it? I have had it happen twice now, after the first time I adjusted the cable to disengage it a bit more but yesterday I went to the beach and it did it again, any ideas?
Really would like to track it down, about to pull the engine for some added goodies and it would be a perfect time to fix this issue.

I would put money on the cable getting hot and maybe stretching a little... On the mustang forums there wrapping the cable with a double layer of header wrap then topping it off with heavy duty aluminum foil shinny side out... The foil reflects the heat... Sitting still in traffic your not getting air flow, so it heats up quicker... My :2cents:

Thanks Ken, I know you have been in the same type of situation and your :2cents: is always welcome :D, I have my cable wrapped in two places with aluminium tape, then I have a piece of aluminium 1" pipe about a foot long over that, would the cable return back to normal once it cools? seems if it stretched it would stay stretched, but I don't know, I will look into that and maybe put a bit more insulating material on and around it.
    Thanks!
