After owning my 71 Grabber for about 8 years it is finally going in for paint and body work!! My question is concerning the hood and side stripes. My car has been repainted by the previous owner...and I must say a crappy paint job at that...and I don't believe the hood and side stripes are period correct. Even though my car is officially a restomod I want the outside to be as period correct as possible. That being said I searched the gallery but alot of the pics I found are not period correct either so I am not sure what the look for the hood and stripes is period correct. I don't want to buy stick on stripes as I want them painted on so I need to supply the proper pics/specs to my painter. Can someone help me out?
Several of the aftermarket, licensed graphics shops sell a paint stencil for a 71 Grabber hood. I have not seen stencils for the stripes.
I'm dealing with a similar issue http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=97348&highlight=micah+stripes The hood was originally painted semi/flat. I believe this cannot be achieved this with a two stage paint. I'm going to do a sticker, unfortunately, graphics express will not do a '71 hood sticker so I will have to do a '72 in flat. Micah
Use the graphics express hood stencil, it is correct for the painted 71 grabber hood.. as for side stripes period correct is a decal...
