Has anyone installed one of these units? I have the complete set up on my 72 and I am having issues with it. The rod at the pedal is adjusted to the max and so is the rod at the cluth fork. The clutch fork is not moving far enough to disengage the clutch. The system has been bled three serarate times. It appears that the issue bay be at the pedal and the linkage there but not sure. Any advice would be great. I am calling Modern tomorrow morning. John
have you measured the travel of the clutch fork yet? how far does the clutch pedal travel or what is the pedal height from the floor?
Travel The fork is not moving far enough to disengage. The travel on the rod to master is just bout an inch to matter how I adjust the rods and linkage. It has an odd mount where the rod from the pedal does not go directly to the master. I am looking into making something where the pedal is directly liked to the master. Thanks for responding to my question... John
Hi John,if you look through some of the old tech articles on here, there are several people that have done it.Once you get your bugs out I`d like to see it because I`ll eventually have to go down that road.Send Killer Comet over here in Chesapeake a PM & he might have some ideas,he lives over in south Norfolk.
i believe they use a 3/4 bore mastercylinder in that kit. the slave cylinders ive found are 7/8s bore. the 3/4 bore m/c doesnt move enough fluid. switching to a 7/8s bore will give more travel to the clutch fork. a good indicator will be if the pedal effort is very light.
Thanks guys for taking the time to respond. I really do appreciate it. I spoke to Paul at Modern and it looks like they will be sending me out a larger bore master to fix the issue. I will let you all know the outcome.
With the technical aspects that this discussion will likely entail.. you might be better off with this in the tech section. Like baddad did here. His thread is recent and the search function is your friend. http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=98616
