About a week ago my brake lights quit working (tail lights work). My front turn signals work fine though. So after some reaserch I was sure it was the turn signal switch. I pulled the wheel and spent a few days fiddling with the brake light switch till I broke it trying to take a look at the hazard switch. Could my problem be solved by installing a new turb signal switch? And what is a brake light switch? btw its a 72 :)

The brake light switch is located on the brake pedal, completely separate from the turn signal switch. Sounds like your gonna need and new brake light switch, and turn signal switch now.

Oh if its the spring mechanism that was working :) so that actually helps me feel better about the broken turn signal switch.

Don't feel too much better about breaking the turn signal switch, it's gonna cost ya a bit to replace, I just did mine yesterday, I only had one brake light and figured it was the turn signal switch as I could make it work by pulling on the turn signal lever, now after replacing it I have two brake lights, but no right front or left rear turn signal, all others work.

Ok now you're scarring me :hmmm: Wouldn't that meen theres a grounding issue somewhere? I have heard theres 2 negative grounds beneath the front headlights. Ive already checked mine as last Wednesday I just installed an hid kit and they looked fine so I have to assume that isnt my issue.

Well I also have double checked those grounds, still nothing on the non working two, last night while driving I turned the corner and thought I saw the indicator on the dash flash on (right turn it hasn't worked) for just a moment, I am thinking it's still in the switch, maybe the wires (look like paperclips) on the backside of the cam, looking into that tomorrow.

The reason I broke the switch is because I took apart the cam to take a look at those "paper clip" contacts and that all looked fine. Even the contacts behind the hazard light switch looked fine. I honestly dont know what had happened to my switch for it to fault because (before I broke it) the green wire feeding power to the far right "paper clip" wasn't providing power to what would be the blue/orange green/orange wires which happen to be, what do you know, the power cables for the back right and left (in order as I listed the cables above) turn signals/brake lights. The whole thing is a mystery :/
