A long block is a motor with heads attached. A short block is a motor without heads. You are needing a complete engine. You need a long block. Post in the parts wanted section here and you will get your needed swap parts.

The block is the same either way, short block and long block is pretty much just a figure of speech. The difference is a short block does not have the heads on it. You will need more than just a long block when doing the 6 to 8 conversion. You need a complete engine assy. When you get ready just let us know. We can give you a list of everything you will need to do the conversion as many of us has done the same thing.

Is Keokuk, not where the great USAC and IMCA driver Ernie Derr was from?

if you buy an engine from someone or a salvage yard get all the brackets too if you can. check with a community college or similar near you. the one near me had body shop classes and also had all the tools you'd need and a paint booth. watch for parts on ebay or ask here when your ready. good luck.:)

if you could get a motor from a mav./comet you would be way ahead. i bought a comet for $125 and it had everything for the swap...frank...

p.s. check and see if you need an oil pan for a comet.
