Hello, want to pull my 302 without the C-4. I removed the four nuts holding the torque converter to the flex plate. I could not push it back far enough to get the studs back away from the flex plate. What is the best way to pull the engine and leave the trans in place?
    Thanks :drive:
    Tony

tranny jack and loosen the 2 big nuts from the tranny mount (not the side the bottom one) and remove the universal too.

The studs won't make any difference, the block dowel pins will keep the engine and trans aligned till the studs are clear of flexplate, converter will stay on trans...

Good point, one of my floor jacks lived under my Comet's transmission for about three months while I was detailing the engine compartment...

as everyone said make sure you have all the bell housing bolts out place a jack under the tranny to support it I always use a couple of jack stands that way my jack isn't tied up put a chain across the engine threaded into the heads or take the carb off and use a lifting plate hook up your hoist and raise it up if it picks up the car you still have a bolt in somewhere
