I cant start my car with key and ive checked everything but the neutral safety switch but i dont no how to check it i heard you had to clock them help please ive mever messed with the switch other than bypass it for the reverse lights
sometimes if it want start in park, try with it in neutral...or move she shifter leaver up/down a little with the key in the start position and see if the starter will engage......
Mine use to cut out intermittently. It left me stranded a couple of times. I bypassed it. For safety, I cannot recommend it, but to see if the switch is a problem you can try it. Unplug the the switch and place a jumper to connect the two ends of the same color wire on the end of the plug. I believe it is the red/blue wire. Consult the diagram to make sure. Make sure it is in park/neutral with the brake on before starting. Micah
Here's a link to adjust the switch.... http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/repair/clutch_transmission_04.html#a
Ok so my brother is helping me with my situation and on my nss i have a 6 wire clip and he only has 4 and i have 2 extra wires that are solid green and solid purple. On the green wire i get 12 volts but i get nothing from purple i dont no what these wires are for i just had a wire nut on them. Do i have this because converted to floor shift from column
My 70 Mach 1 has the switch in the floor shifter. The switch has a raised square peg that fits into a square hole on the shifter lever. That peg broke leaving the switch in a position other than park or neutral. It was fine until the next time you tried to start it. I placed it in a park position, basically allowing it to start in any gear until I could replace it.
