i havent been driving my maverick @ night, as my right (passenger's) turn signal does not blink when the headlights are on. it works fine when the headlights are not on. im not sure if its related, but something recently fell out from underneath the dash and into the tray (no glovebox). its hard to describe what it looks like, and i wish i had a pic of it. it fell out very near the steering column. anyhow... its probably related, but since nobody who ive shown it to, can figure out what it is... maybe another maverick owner might know. ive check all the bulbs and cant find one thats burnt. any ideas? thanks rr
I would bet the ranch that it is indeed a bulb, or dirty socket. Disconnect the negative battery cable and clean every light socket related to your right turn signal. While you are at it, replace all the bulbs. I dont have any idea what fell from under your dash, but it is interesting that you experienced problems after it happened. Dan
what do you clean sockets with? bulbs have been replaced. maybe not all @ once. but i think they are all good. the sockets are a bit pitty, rusty, or corroded.. but i dont know what to do with it. wd40, wire brush, toothbrush, etc?
duh, oh yeah, forgot about ground,,, thanks Ray.. clean it with a wire brush. Once again, thinking your bulbs are good does not lend towards good troubleshooting. Knowing your bulbs are good is the only way to troubleshoot. Bulbs, as well as fuses can look fine to the eye, but not function correctly. Dan
terry hawkins ranch and fortune are in dire straights. i got it fixed today. i replaced both front signal bulbs today, and they work flawlessly. the other bulb (that did work) went out. the malfunctioning bulb still appears undamaged, but a new bulb makes it work. thanks for the replies all the same
Hold the bulb by the base and gently flick the glass with you finger watch the filament for vibrations. Sometimes the filament is broken but appears OK.
Holy crap I'm having this exact same problem with my left light and it's been driving me nuts. I love this site.
Okay. I tired everything here. This sucks because it's still not working. My left signal light blinks when the headlights are off. It stops blinking as soon as I switch the dashboard lights on. I've replaced all the bulbs, and cleaned all the sockets. The only thing I can think of it that it's grounding out somewhere, and well that just sucks. I'm going to give some low wattage LED lights a shot. Yeah they'll blink faster, but if it works with my head lights on I'll be happy with that for now. Damn old cars!
