I have a 74 Comet with a Mustang II front suspension and a Boss 351 motor. I am trying to figure out the front end weight so i can change over to coil-overs. Anyone have any idea of what spring rates I would need? I am looking at these QA1 shocks http://www.qa1.net/qa1_motorsports/drag-and-street/shocks-and-struts/stock-mount-shocks-and-struts/mustang-ii-shocks-and-pro-coil-system/single-adjustable.html Jack
I think Willie at RCM usually ships 550# coilovers with his kit, I asked for 450#'s on mine because I'm all aluminum...
I also have the Mustang II front end with a 393 Cleveland and Heidts sent me a set of 450 coil over shocks for mine - a few years ago, I had talked with Speedway and we also came up with 450's - I haven't set the full weight down yet so I can't say for sure if this is correct or not Do you have pictures of your build?
Ok that explains the heavy springs. I just put 125# springs on mine. I have aluminum heads, CF hood and glass fenders though. I have yet to see how it sits with them because it's not on the ground yet. Hopefully in the next few days though.....
