I'm looking for a steel grabber hood for a 71 maverick. My son is restoring one for his high school senior project. Anybody have one for a reasonable price? I am located in Washington State, 60 miles north of Seattle.
Welcome from Northern California! '71 and '72 grabber hoods are the same, just different stripes. You might also want to put where you are located.
from Northeast Pennsylvania I have a pristine Grabber hood that I refer to as part of my retirement package - 400 plus would be a pretty close estimate for a hood in excellent condition - you may find one with hood lip rust through much cheaper and a good front section from any common flat hood makes a great repair piece as that section is the same on both hoods
From Virginia beach.... Get on Junkyarddog.com, and put out a request. I did a while back, just didn't want to pay what they were asking.
On page 48 there is a divider: http://www.melvinsclassicfordparts.com/pdfs/melvins-maverick-catalog-final.pdf TRUNK DIVIDER 70 - 77 Maverick & 71 - 77 Comet FAM - 182.......................ea...............................18.0 Is that what everyone is talking about?
Grabber hoods are getting expensive. $500 gets you in line for one, but it will most likely take more cash to get a good one IF you can find one. One member on these boards makes Carbon Fiber Grabber Hoods and are top-quality according to those who have them. http://www.maverickman.com/StoreGrabTypeHood.html Good luck with your search, and from Atlantic Canada!!
Hi Dianne, in this thread they are talking about the Grabber hood, of which I have three! the divider goes between the trunk and passenger compartment.
Search the members for Matterick, he is south of you and had a few of those hoods he was trying to sell. Not sure if he still has them but it's worth a try. Here's an old ad, you can use this as a means to contact him. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=92899&highlight=matterick
