    Howdy,
I have a transmission from a 1970ish Maverick that has a "W" code servo, and am looking for any info anyone may have on the specs for it.

Never head of a "W". Check out the monster C4 thread over at Fordmuscle....and if you don't mind, add a post....the info for the W could be useful.

I've posted over there in the past with no clues from anyone. Perhaps i have the last one in existance :) here's the info I've found on the tranny from mmerlin.tripod.com...

    Build Code PEB-D1
    Bell Housing C5GP-A
    Case D0DP-A
    Ext Housing D0OP-A
    Servo W
    Speedo Count R8
    V Body Top D0AP-E
    V Body Bottom D2AP-AA
    V Body Code S9

I'm pulling the engine and tranny this weekend (hopefully) so perhaps i'll be able to get some measurements on the servo.

The servo is a piston that clamps the front band The larger the piston area the more clamping power it has the C Code had the largest piston, then the H code was next! The thread on the muscle net work has the sizes of all the C4 servos! the C code is the largest that will fit the case, it was used on the
Shelby GT350 H , The Stock H code is still available but rare! The C code is only available in a billet!

Could you take a caliper and measure the holding and release side of the W servo so we know what it is! I have never seen a w Code servo!

I don't know why it really matters all that much since it's a lo-po deal anyways. Better to use the H or R servos.. or aftermarket hybrid's.. on anything performance related because it prolongs band life and keeps direct clutches alive over the long run. Otherwise.. just run what ya got and be happy with it.

A quick search here shows another thread around here similar to this one.
