So my engine got to overheating the other night. I went and grabbed a thermostat, and figured that it'll be a quick job. Well not quite, i broke off my thermostat housing bolt. I can fix that, but what I can't find is the vacuum that screws into the top of the therm housing. Does anybody have/know where to find it? I've looked at all the local stores, rock auto, you name it. If anybody has one the could sell me or knows where to buy them, Please let me know

My best guess would be that you have a thermal valve for either a choke or egr purposes and that would be the vacuum line you'e looking for. My 71 doesnt have that though, might be an emissions thing

LOL looking for stuff we threw away in '70s... It probably hasn't worked in years, by now they've likely stuck in one position or have a internal leak that limits their effectiveness...

Generally those temp valves switched vacuum advance between ported or full manifold vac... I usually connect the dist directly to ported vac on the carb(like the '60s Fords), or if it seems sluggish, can connect the dist directly to manifold vac(the GM method)...

Do you have A/C? Because when I compared my housing to non-A/C one's, they didn't have the opening for it. After looking at some pictures, I saw one that looked like the hole had filled in a resto.
