Like everybody else at sometime in their life this is a first for me also. I am working on my daughters 1977 Maverick and I am trying to find a complete exhaust system for her car. It has a 4.1 inline 6 cylinder. I have worn my eyes out searching for this stuff. I was wondering if there are other vehicles that have interchangeable parts for this car to help in finding stuff.
Not really. Just take it to a muffler shop and let them rebuild it from scratch. For a 4.1, I would add a glasspak instead of a muffler if you want a little grumble to the exhaust sound.
That is a really good idea. Thanks I think I will look into that. Do you have any thoughts on seat belts?
My opinion (shared by others I am sure): a glass pack on a 6 cylinder sounds terrible. The drone is obnoxious.
from Northeast Pennsylvania Are the seat belts missing on the Maverick? If so, just put an ad in the Classifieds section
I wouldn't trust 40 year old seat belts. NHRA requires seatbelts be replaced every two or three years for safety reasons. I replaced all my seatbelts with new belts for $110. Stay with a factory style muffler on a 6 cylinder unless you add a header with dual exhaust, then a turbo muffler will sound good.
go with a 2.25 no cross over or even an H or X crossover, depends if you like more of a rumbly sound..X would make exhaust more smooth sounding muffler i'd leave to you as everyone has a different preference
