I joined up a while back with high hopes of starting the restoration process on my '72 Mav. Unfortunately, I had more game-plan than money. BUT...we are now off to the races and my grandfather's, dad's, brothers's (mine as of highschool '93) 72 Maverick is on its way to its former glory....and then some. It was touch and go there at the beginning as I had to have the very serious internal conversation and soul searching to convince myself that it would be a worthwhile project. So far, so good....and the light at the end of the tunnel grows brighter each day. Going to give it a shot on uploading some pics.
from Atlantic Canada!! It looks like a super start!!! Keep posting pics! What colour are you planning on going with? It's cool that the car is 3 generations strong!
Thanks for the support fellas...this was a long time coming! Color: Anti-Establish Mint Green, of course....ok, maybe not. i wanted to stay in the green family though since it was originally the hideous pea-green you see in the photos (it was LDO with white top and side trim...tan interior). Leaning toward a Metallic Tea Green with black hood and tail badges. unfortunately the grabber hood did not stand the test of time...but i am warming up to the look and lines of standard hood. End game: the beauty of Maverick is there is no real need to stay original but i won't be doing anything too crazy...just want a solid, straight, clean, well-handling driver with some get up and go. i think we are still a few weeks form shipping it off to paint...and when i say "we" i actually mean the guys i am paying to do the job. My troubles in getting started years ago where lack of time, money and know-how. I managed to resolve the one of the 3. still working on fitment of some conversions and upgrades to suspension and steering. I will do my best to post progress reports.
that's the color the top of my car is supposed to be... I had surface rust on the top so I had my painter sand, prime and paint the top. (pics. in gallery)
Surface rust on mine as well, and then some...really bad along the seems of the vinyl top. They tried patching it up but we decided to find a donor instead...hence the "convertible" picture and blue top!
Can't seem to figure out how to upload photos to the gallery...says i do not have access. Let me know what i am missing here.
