    My turn, now.

Discovered yesterday that when I turn on the driver-side turn signal, the flasher immediately starts "clicking" (I can hear it), but the indicator on the dash cluster and the left front blinker does not start blinking until after about 5 seconds.

What could be the cause for this delay? I know that when a bulb is burnt out, it won't blink at all but will be lit up.

Has anyone else encountered this? It's a new problem that just started, and the passenger side works normally.

On this car the indicator stays on in the dash cluster , letting you know you have a bulb burnt out . It sounds to me like a bulb not making contact in the socket . Check an see if you have any corrosion in the socket .
