After cleaning my engine compartment i found patches of rust all over the place, the engine just isn't clean looking with it being there. Any advice for getting rid of the rust? Also, what's the best method for removing rust from chrome wheels...?
Simonize chrome cleaner/polish for the wheels... As for the rusty block...Marine clean and a scrub brush followed by some fresh paint...
I would you assume that you are talking about rust on the sheet metal in your engine bay. If you can get a wire wheel in a drill to the rust that gets it off pretty quick. Your rust could be bad enough that you may have to patch with steel patch pieces.
If the pictures on Photobucket are your latest, the inner fenders look pretty good. You have a car, that some people would die to get. Have a look at Eastwood.com, it has tech tips, and all the products you'll need to clean it up. Just take it slow, don't get discouraged, and do anything you might regret.
Alright, Thanks for the info! Thank you very much, I am not at all discouraged about my car, i love it to death and dont plan on getting rid of it or cutting into it for anything. Rust doesn't bother me much, it'd just be nice to get it cleaned up as much as i can if i can as often as i go to car shows lately. Still haven't had the guts to open my hood up during a car show yet. Then again, gotta show off the grabber hood rather than the little dirty 200 under the hood. I will check out the site and see what i can do to clean it up. And yes, those pictures (with a fairly clean engine compartment) were taken a couple days ago.
