hey i have changed everthing on my mav and my car still hates to start after sitting all nite i live in canada and the mav hates the weather my mav is a 250 6 cyl and it idiles rough will in drive and shakes like a @#stard when starting any good advice it gets cold here in the winter it would be nice if it started right away
hi, is this an inside or outside car? what year 250? does it have points? how cold is it now up there? what grade oil are you using? is this a daily driver?...frank...
ff its an outside car its a 1975 four door its starting to snow here and it gets pretty chilly its a daily driver and i use 10 30 oil
i'm not a carb. man but it sounds like it might be a little lean. is the choke hooked up and adj. correctly? i would suggest a lighter oil.5w20...frank
thanks i will try that it is really hard to find people to work on carbs i will see what i can come up with.In the morning i have to pump the gas pedal like four times then try it then pump again try it then again it usually tries to turn over by the 5th time it starts then i have to hammer the gas then it shakes hard and then finally runs half decent
definately sounds like the choke isn't closing all the way. dude there is a round thing on the side of the carb about even with the shaft for the choke. it has 3 lil screws. loosen them up (assuming the car is overnight cold.) and move the round thing around (you have to have a buddy hold the gas pedal about half way down)until you see the choke just barely close. then move it just a lil tighter and tighten the 3 lil screws. should start right up. if it does but then runs like crap... wanting to die... you may have to find the "high idle" screw and adjust it to make the engine run a lil faster while warming up. of course if it screams... go the other way. jersey ain't canada but i tell todd to put a trouble light under the hood near the battery (drop light to some) to keep it warm. more cranking power. uhhh remember to take it out before you start the car. best of luck!
