I run 4 7/8" on mine on a 8.5: rim. Fit fine with a small spacer with 275-60 DR

Dave,, your figuring should put your wheels spaced in the wheelhouse nicely. Factory backspacing on the wheels is 4.5" I believe.

I think 4 3/4 is too much. You will have to run spacers.

It is going to be very close on both sides with a tire that wide. I used to run a 10.5" tire on the back and had problems with both the qtr lip and the leaf spring. Cant remember what backspacing I had on the wheel though. I do remember I had to run a wheel spacer to get the tire away from the leaf spring.

Its not the rims you have to worry about rubbing the springs, its the tires. Tires usually stick out past the rims. I put a set of 255r60x15 on 8" rims with 4 1/2" back spacing on my Stock 77 Mav. The tires just barely scrapped the springs.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
cant' wait to see the all 4 wheels on your car... but if you ask me 4-1/2 backspace (if thats what your talking about) is too much for that tire and the tire is gonna hit the leaf. from the way i read what you wrote if its hitting the fender lip and you go with more of a backspace the tire will hit the leaf like dennis said too (ok that makes two of us) :p . now with that presuming your rear end is stock. but live and learn ;)

[maverickman says to himself - i run M/Ts and wheels should be 3-1/2 to 4 inch backspace on wheel! :yup: and roll the fender if need be! ]

    good luck ;)
