    Dont know what they all mean, but the 2 79 8 after 2LA is 2:79 ratio and 8" ring gear

    Shop manual says that WDW-T is a correct 8" for a Mustang, Cougar, Maverick. Conventional 2 pinion.

    2LA is the date code (year, month, week) so that would be 1972, December, 1st week

    as Mavaholic stated - 2 79 8 is for 2:79 ratio 8"

    520C is an internal plant code (ie: warehouse location, bin number, rack number, ect)

    If your car is a 73, it sounds like an original rear end.

    Hope this helps;
    Eric

    "WDW-T 2LA 2 79 8 520C"

    Ok, here goes:

    WDW-T is the axle model

    2LA is the date code (year, month, week) Yours was built in 1972, December, first week. (Jan=A, Feb=B, Mar=C.....)(1st week = A...)

    2.79 8, like Mavaholic said is 2.79:1 ratio, 8 inch ring gear

    520C is the Plant coding

    Hope this helps.

    Very cool Corbin,
    I have a mental picture of us both reading the post and running to our shop manuals! Let the race begin!
