I was degreasing the rear end I bought and just was curious as to what the letters and numbers meen on the tag. WDW-T 2LA 2 79 8 520C
Shop manual says that WDW-T is a correct 8" for a Mustang, Cougar, Maverick. Conventional 2 pinion. 2LA is the date code (year, month, week) so that would be 1972, December, 1st week as Mavaholic stated - 2 79 8 is for 2:79 ratio 8" 520C is an internal plant code (ie: warehouse location, bin number, rack number, ect) If your car is a 73, it sounds like an original rear end.
