1973 is slightly different than 1970-1972........but will still work just fine.

1973 has a "cut out" in the bottom of the radio opening for the AM/FM speaker left side to right side slider bar............thingy??

early 73 are also differant from later 73's. depending on a package tray or glove box

later 73's are like ealry 74's and made out of pot metal

late 74's / 75's and up are made out of plastic. also they will not fit late or early 74's they have an extra thingy sticking out of it to fit in the newer lower dashes.

i'm sure ford did some weird stuff and has some later models with metal bezels but this is what i have at least seen out this way and on my cars.

Probably one of those California things. They probably thought the plastic lightened the car enough to get better economy. Seems they pull alot of strange ideas like that out of their butts over there. :biglaugh:

yep came on my 75.. looks exactly like a metal one but it's plastic... part of it was cracked where the mount was. so i fabed on up out of metal cuz even the OE metal one didn't fit :(

i wouldn't put it past them

Cant say I've ever seen a plastic one either. The 77 Comet I'm stripping now is metal. I dont know for sure if I've ever stripped a 74 or 75. I know I've hit all the other years.

My '75 had the radio delete and the block out plate was plastic. If you use a Dremel to cut out the rectangle inside the raised chrome lip, it's a perfect fit for a later model electronic radio. Ask me how I know ;)
