    Ok,
    I have 2 cars. Both with I6-250.
    1) is a 74' Maverick (points ign.)
    2) is a 76' Comet donar car (electronic ign.)

What needs to be done to convert the maverick over to electronic using all the parts from the Comet.

    Thanks,
    John.

I know your talking about factory but I switched over to the Pertronix about 3 years ago and it has been flawless, just like changing a set of points, took about 10 min., cost @ $60.00

I like the petronix set up and will be putting one in the Comet, but your duraspark is a freebee and an excellent system. So I'd go that route. I didnt read the thread (too lazy) so I'll give a quick rundown. The dist, coil, and sparlk box all plug together with the wiring harness. Only thing left over is the red and white wire out of the box. Tie them together and hook to a straight, switched 12v source. pretty simple stuff.

so I need the plugs(connectors??) out of the donor car too?
    Same wire conbo?
Other than the red and white which control the timing curve.
    Color coded the same?

Sorry for the ???? Its not my car I am just trying to help a fellow maverick owner out that does not have internet access.
    Thanks.
    John.

    pertronixs

I run the petronixs in both my maverick and my cougar, not a problem in over a year and a half. your stuff is good though since you already got it.
the pertronixs doesn't need the module, is very clean installation, and fits right in your dist. good luck...DUTCH

The red and white wire is just the 12V to power the ignition system. I believe 1 is a circuit that cuts the voltage down for running while the other is a full 12v for starting. I've always just put them both together and shoot them with a full 12volts. Been working great for years this way.
