Permatorque style head gaskets

Do you have to spray these head gaskets down with aluminum paint? oOr are these the self sealing kind:Handshake

 

install dry on a clean surface

 

Felpro Permatorque blue ? No sealer. If they're the Permatorque "print-o-seal" with the sealer bead around the ports........toss em in the garbage. The best seal I've found for my 331 was using the stock O.E. expanded graphite gaskets, liberally coated with "kopper-cote" (aluminum heads--iron block) 6 years now and nary-a-leak

You of all people should know they did this back in the 70s. The price of the kit was real cheap and i didnt know if they used the old head gaskets. I bought a pair for 5 bucks at the ohio swap meet.

 

I just put a set on about a month ago. No sealer, just put on and torque them down.

 

Don't hurt yourself.
