I started adding up what I need to finish my v8 swap, and it's a painful number. Do do everything the way I want it, I have to come up with another $2,500! It's things like bolt kits, hose clamps, hoses, paint, dipsticks and other accessories that really hurt. However, I am getting closer to swap time (may) and I'd love to have this car down to the roundup this year, but I may not make it. Just wanted to share the progress.
...and we can talk about all the work that you have done (and about Johns pink car) (and Terry)...frank...
I know what you mean Bruce. Even with a collection of parts you still have to buy more to complete the job.
If it's going to cause your car to not make it to the Roundup, then wait until afterwards so you can bring your car!
The correct way to budget for a car is to estimate every cost that you can imagine, then double it. Plus add a 50% for buffer. Then you might have enough.
I concur with the distinguished gentleman from Maryland. Sure does get expensive. Hope you make it to the Roundup either way Bruce. Dan
The way my 200i is running, I wouldn't make it anyways. For a motor with only 80,000 miles on it, it has a ton of problems. I did some budgeting and substitutions (i.e. wait on the 8qt pan, etc) and brought it down a little. I work two jobs but I'm a fulltime college student, money comes in for spending slow. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement.
if my wife only new what takes i would be alone, then she why not go ahead and get if you need it go figure lol
the 2 d's( Dan,Dennis) are correct and gentlemen at that.. ..if your car is not ready, come any ways like earl said.. I think.. any ways you will have a great time..
