I had joined up a couple years ago and never posted, and am going to start in on rebuilding a 72 2D Maverick soon, so I thought I better introduce myself. I am a long time Ford truck dabbler but have never tore in to the Mavericks before. This car belonged to my wife's grandfather, he bought it new in Las Cruces, NM early in 72 and drove it to work till he retired, I think in the early 80's. He passed away, and had always promised it to my wife, so we got it in about 92. We drove it, and my daughter used it her last couple years of high school, but it was starting to burn a lot of oil. I think the rings had seized up during the years of disuse. We eventually put nonfouling plugs in it, and it got to where even those wouldn't go 100 miles without gobbing up. Anyway, it's due for a rebuild, odds and ends in the interior. The desert sun has taken out the headliner and paint, but all in all, it's pretty good shape. I should mention it has the 250-6 and c4 automatic tranny with A/C. Looking forward to the expertise here.
Yeah Mav's are becoming popular, everybody has seen and old mustang in a garage and on the street. But when was the last time you saw a Maverick on the road. Do the investment math.
