Hello all, I have a 1977 Maverick with the factory AM radio still in it, but I really need my music, and want to install an updated system. The problem is, I dont want to screw things up, and need some advise...........anyone. Thanks, needshep
hi. with a little twiking to the face plate you can mount almost any cd player. cut a little at a time and it will look stock. there are some pics. here somewhere that you can look at. do a search at the top on.."radios" ...frank...
I have stashed cd players in consoles, underseats, in glove boxes. The Maverick however does not have many good spots for hiding them. I have thought with a package tray car a person could do something either under it, or in it, with some type of cover to conceal it. I dont think the glove box cars have a deep enough glove box to get it done. In my 60 pontiac I have retained the original radio, which still works and added a cd player with 4 speakers and it all sounds wonderful and cannot be seen. Dan
Ok I have a factory AM/FM Philco Radio with 4 speakers, how could a CD player hook up to that? I know if your radio has a cassete in it you can but as far as I know a regular radio wont work that way.
I had the same problem with not having any place to mount a cd player so i just took bracket/enclosure that bolts the old am radio to the underside of the dash and cut it. I made a template by measuring the back of my cd player and cut the hole with a roto zip and a cut off wheel. Then I just bent up a set of brackets and bolted them on and attatched them to the cd player. Once you put it all back on the dash (a bit of a pain) it looks like a stock cd player in a 70s car. Can't beat that.
