I haven't been down the track since '96. At that time my GTO clicked off an 11.88 @ 115 mph shifting at 5,000 RPM. It had 11.50's in it but the nose broke off the starter after that run.

Wow good stuff, just the thread I need to modivate me to get back outside and finish fabing my headers. It's just so cold, makes it hard with out a garage at my age. But I need to get it done so I can fire the new motor. Only have eight more weeks. Great thread.

    practice

Now it comes down to consistent and practice. I like to watch the other sportmans classes and use that knowledge of what they're doing. You might want to get a practice and see how much difference that can make for you also.

Well just a little about me. Went to drags fathfully, every weekend, and raced for 10 yrs in the 70,80s. Then stopped for family and such. We all have been there. The last 4 years a friend has bugged me to take my Mav. Now my car was built to be a daily driver but have a little b@#&s. So in 2009 I decided to go once per month for the whole summer. It was 29 years since racing at a drag strip, excluding Round-ups and Gatherings.Back then there was no such thing as 60 foots, no reaction time either. Now well I had a great time and the old Mav stood up fine. No breakage, no over heating, just would kick off the ALT belt above 6000 rpm. Went thru 6 belts b4 I solved the problem. Took the belt off when ready to race in the staging lanes.then put back on at end of track. Boy did this bring back fond memories. My reaction times were great. Best was .002 and all others were mostly.o20or .050 area. Not bad for a 60 year old guy. Will be goin again this year and still doin my 2 shows.
Not the xmas tree thing, well first was .276, 2nd-red, 3rd.368, 4th.301
Doesn't matter how we have fun , just remember to have FUN. thks Ron:thumbs2::thumbs2:
