    Hi all.

Although I don't own a Maverick or a Comet, I just wanted to drop in on the Forum since there are some similarities between the two and my '77 Mustang II Ghia V8.
My Mom bought the Mustang new (I actually went with her and helped her through the ordering process) and she gave it to me a couple years ago when she quit driving - it has 54,000 miles on the clock.

I found this Forum when I Googled "Ford Motorcraft Carburetor" to see if I could get an answer to a question I have about the carb.

Hope I'm not considered an alien or a subversive because I own a Mustang II.

    Hey Greg,

Your quite welcome here. There are others on here that do not own a Maverick/Comet. I'm sure someone here will have the information you seek. What part of Lakeland are you in?

I'm near the GEICO building, behind the airport.

I used to see a pretty sharp looking Maverick in the area of Florida Ave. and 540-A.
    Might that have been you?

    welcome abord.

im actually one of those people out there who like mustang II's. matter of fact i'd rather have one of those then a fox body, but when i tell my mustang buddies that you should see the look on their face :)

saddly i wish one of the simularties between mavericks and Mustang II's was that front suspension set up. that would sure make life on this side of the fence alot better lol

I always thought Mustang II's were more line Pinto's than Mavericks ... weren't they built off the Pinto platform?

Welcome to the board. I sold my Comet a while back, so I'm one of the members without a maverick/comet.

Mustang II's are ok, but not one of my favorite cars.

Either way, glad your here. If you ever buy yourself a maverick/comet then you got a good parts car for the MII front suspension. lol j/k

I also own a mint '77 Mustang II with a 302 in addition to my '06 Mustang GT and Maverick Grabber project.

Despite the fact that the "II" has a front suspension without shock towers, larger engine swaps are very challenging. The frame rails are pretty narrow, requiring the use of an engine plate and the removal of the engine mounts if you want to use headers on a 351 swap. The '06 GT has a huge engine compartment in contrast. Jon Kaase recently performed a Boss 429 swap and it fit with surprisingly few mods! Heck, I think a 427 SOHC would be a drop in.
