I have a set of 17 X 9 Mustang Bullit wheels I want to mount on my 73 Maverick. What wheel adapters do I need and where do I get them? I'm in north GA, anywhere local? Brad
buy some bolt-on hub centric type.probably about 1 1/2",I was going to use the same wheels and had everything here already, but went with another style instead.
It is gonna be a tight fit if it fits at all. I have a 15"X 8" wheel on my rear and it is tight with a 4.5" backspace, (about a 1/2" between the tire and the leaf spring, just clears the stock wheel lip). Since you are going with 17"X9" it might work because the tire will not bulge out as much due to a lower profile. Backspacing will have to be perfect. The front is an iffy situation too. Keep us posted on how it goes. I hope it works. It will look goooooood.
17x9 i dont think it will fit the front...i have the same 17x9 on the rear & it fits...i have a 17x8 on the front...there is a place here that makes them in what every size you need out of billet. make sure you measure a few times to be right. you also need to go to a tire website & see how wide is the tires you plan on using is. my rear tire is 10.5 inches wide or something like that, but the front is only 9 inches wide. you need that information to add in the out come of clearence.
What do you have on the front? Should I try and trade my nines for eights or what? Or do you think they will clear with 235's and the fender lips rolled under?
I could not fit a 17x9 on the front even with the fender rolled. I lowered about 2.5 inches so 235's was to tall. They were also to wide. only because i needed to tire to sit inside the fender. 235's put the tire very close to the fender lip & it didn't help that I lower the car so much. from the ground to the top center of the fender is only a little over 24 inches. Yes trade the nine for an eight. 235's should fit if you have not lowered the car. Do a serch for Falken Tires website. You can find out how tall is a 235 on their site or you can find out fron Nitto Tires website.
you going to need about 4 to no more than 4.5 inches of backspaceing with the adapters on the wheel. I forgot the measurement. 4.5 is the max. I think it's between 4.25 & 4.50 for the rear.
