look at a locomotive, the only thing the diesel engine does is provide power to run the electric motor to move the train...is it really fast food, its never ready when you drive up to the window, why is there brail on atm machines? a boat is something that will fit on a a ship, as we get older why do we lose hair on our heads and get hair in our ears and noses? does the light really go off in the fridge....??????????

They're both the same. We all know what an internal combustion engine is. Then there's "Ford Motor Company" (Ford), "General Motors" (GM), and "Bavarian Motor Works" (BMW). It's the same meaning either way; something that is powered by other than humans or animals...

Braille on ATM machines. That is a sign of today's society. You don't have to be able to see to drive. So I guess that means that a blind person can drive down the store & back by himself.

I saw a road sign the other day that read at the bottom in small letters "visually impaired please call 1-800......" There is a 800 number that you're supposed to call for road construction information if you can't see. I wonder...if someone's vision is bad enough to need to call the number, do you really think that they could read the small print at the bottom??

I should have gotten a picture of it and posted it for a Darwin Award.

I have enough time thanks. All I know is an engine is an engine and a motor is a motor and motor oil is motor oil and oil is oil. No matter what you call it is all the same.

I do know this. I worked on alot of Nuclear Safety Related equiptment when I was at the Power Company. If I had gone to the control room with a set of work orders to refurbish the circuit breaker for pump motor 64Z and told them I was supposed to work on pump ENGINE 64z I would have probably been escorted off site by security.
You hear people call and engine a motor but I have never heard anyone call an elec. motor and engine.
Wonder why that is if they are the same thing?

To me if it's electric it's a motor and if it's internal combustion it's a engine. If I'm buying oil for the car, it's oil. Never seen the point in putting engine or motor before oil.

I've always called the thing under the hood an engine. To me a motor is electric and runs your fan or washer. You never hear someone say they have to replace the engine in their washer...

It's kinda like hubcaps and wheelcovers. Hubcaps are the small, 2 inch diameter dust covers that are pressed on to the hub and keep dirt out of the bearings. Wheelcovers are those fancy 15 inch things that make a plain wheel look more stylish. Yet everyone always asks if someone stole your hubcaps.

These and many other things I ponder....

It's that big red truck that comes to put out people's houses that are on fire. It has a really loud siren too!
