I'm in it too for the west coast connection. (as long as you start off on the east coast so I can finish my car) perhaps in states where there are several people, they can get together for a mini meet??

What would be nice is to pick up a fairly cheap, yet halfway decent digital camera, and pass that along, then pictures can be uploaded to the site as it goes, and we wouldn't have to wait ages for the pics.

I could host them. Maybe get each owner to write a bit about their car and experience meeting the other owners.

Dennis :I figured we would just up load them to a site for everyone to enjoy. Maybe Stefan could add them to the MCCI mini meet pages? The pictures are just a "thing" to do, the main reason is to get Maverick and Comet owners together.
Maybe Craig or whoever takes over the MCCI could print some pictures in Shorthorns every issue as an update.

Jeremy: A digital camera might be risky. A disposable camera is basicly idiot proof, and could be replaced when it gets full, I don't think anyone would steal a disposable camera out of any ones car.
I expect this event would take about a year or so to be finished, and I'd hate a to see a digital camera get lost out in the wildes of America.

If anyone has any connections with Auto Krafters or anyone else that might step up to be a sponser, we might be able to get this published.

They sell those kodak disposable digital cameras. They might be a valid choice? Let me know when, and Ill get the camera. This is great. How many pics of each little meeting would be taken? Just one? Now i am very anxious to do this!

I would say more than one. If the pics are good enough, I wonder what the chance of this getting magazine attention?? I bet it is possible.

You what likely isn't possible, but would be cool, is to Have one volunteer ride in the cars, all the way to the end, and fly back, switching car to car, and finishing it all within a week or so, then that person could write up one hell of a story. Again, just dreaming on that...but thought I would mention it.

I think logistically, you should give it about a year to pull this off. Have Craig put something in the news letter so you can form a data base and formulate a plan. Then there should be some basic rules, like, you must drive a Comet and/or Maverick and pass it on to someone else driving one. Then keep a log to go with each camera. As one camera fills up, send it and the log to you so you can start working on putting it all together. This way you wont be over whelmed with all the data at once.

Count me in! If you give me until winter break, first part of dec, then I could go from S. Cali to at least N.M. That would be so awesome. Then we could make some kind of photo book (calendar??) that would be so awesome to see mav's around the country and at different times of the year! Let me know what I can do to help. Anyone needs a place to stay if they decide to do the cross-country trip is welcome at our place!

Sounds like fun, I will join in to help wherever I can. Two points I can make.
    1. Use multiple shots of each photo. IE loss of camera, technical difficulty, etc. ( would be a major problem if one camera was lost with 1000 miles of pics)

    2. Meeting at Landmarks would be an effective way of documenting the journey.

ps time of year could be a very important factor in success of participants.

Dennis and Dan you guys make some excellent points. Like I said I just thought this up yesterday, so I'm gathering info as you read this. This will not happen over night, thats for sure. I didn't even know if this would have any interest. But lo and behold you folks are just as crazy as I am. (y) Russ

Having never bought a disposable camera...how many photos will they hold? If they hold, say, 24 pictures, I couldn't see needing more than 2 or 3. Just depends on how it works out I suppose.

another idea...maybe have these put to disc. once the project is complete... the cameras gone coast to coast all four sides of the country, the pictures could be sent out as a promotion for the club...sent out in an issue of shorthorns for members to keep and a link on the mcci site for others to see what kind of maverick nuts we really are!
